Reading about the upcoming Sri Krishna Janmāṣṭamī celebration in Gangtok instantly took me back to the first Janmashtami I attended at the ISKCON temple in Delhi when I was a teenager. I remember the night sky illuminated by countless diyas, the rhythmic chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra echoing through the courtyard, and the scent of bhog spreading from the kitchen.
