I feel deeply honored to be invited as the Chief Guest by Brahman Mahasabha Vasundhara Ghaziabad by Dear Yogesh Kaushik Ji.
We were gathered there to reflect on the eternal and divine qualities of a true brāhmaṇa, as revealed in the timeless scripture — Śrīmad Bhāgavatam.
Bhagavad-gītā aur bhāgavatam dono yeh spasht karte hain ki brāhmaṇa hone ka arth janm se nahi, gunon se hota hai.
In Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 7.11.21, Nārada Muni explains:
> शमो दमस्तपः शौचं क्षान्तिरार्जवमेव च ।
ज्ञानं विज्ञानमास्तिक्यं ब्रह्मकर्म स्वभावजम् ॥
A brāhmaṇa is one who possesses the following qualities by nature:
Śama — peace and control over the mind
Dama — self-restraint and control of senses
Tapas — spiritual austerity
Śauca — purity, external and internal
Kṣānti — tolerance, especially in the face of insult
Ārjava — honesty and simplicity
Jñāna — knowledge of scriptures
Vijñāna — realization of that knowledge
Āstikya — firm faith in God and the Vedic truth
इन गुणों को धारण करना ही सच्चे ब्राह्मण का लक्षण है — न कि केवल जन्म लेना।
Lord Kṛṣṇa Himself confirms in Bhagavad-gītā 4.13:
> cātur-varṇyaṁ mayā sṛṣṭaṁ guṇa-karma-vibhāgaśaḥ
“I created the four varṇas according to guna (qualities) and karma (activities), not by birth.”
Śrīla Prabhupāda boldly declared that anyone, irrespective of birth, can become a true brāhmaṇa by cultivating these virtues and dedicating life to bhakti, truth, and selfless service.
As Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 1.2.6 states:
> sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhokṣaje
“The highest dharma is that which awakens devotion to the Supreme Lord.”
Therefore, the purpose of brahminical life is not prestige, but purity. Not status, but sādhana.
Let us not just wear the sacred thread, but carry the sacred responsibility of leading society by example, wisdom, and compassion.
> वास्तविक ब्राह्मण वही है जो समाज को भगवान की ओर मोड़े — न कि केवल जात-पाँत का दंभ करे।
Let us revive the pure spirit of Brahmanatva — by living with character, compassion, and connection with Bhagavān.
Thank you.
Hare Kṛṣṇa.
